WOOSTER – Families can explore Oak Hill Park and the city while hunting for items and poker cards on Saturday, June 18 at the next Run, Walk and Roll event.
The scavenger hunt event from last year is largely returning but with a few notable differences, said Jeff Battig, retired Wooster Recreation and Community Center manager.
Hunting:Scavenger hunt allows people to explore Wooster by walking, running or riding a bike
“It will be split into two separate events this year,” said Battig, who is still organizing such events. “There will be a Poker Run for adults and a scavenger hunt at Oak Hill Park that is more geared toward kids.”
Starting at the soccer fields along Burbank Road, Poker Run participants will ride their bikes along a route leading into downtown Wooster, Battig said.
The recommended trail, Battig said, will take riders down Burbank Road and Beall Avenue, though any safe route can be used.
Several participating downtown businesses will have decks of poker cards, he said. Bikers will need to find those businesses using the clues they are given.
Participants will collect one card from each business and return to the soccer fields by 1 p.m.

The top three best hands will win a prize that could include coupons to Ride On, Wooster’s locally owned bike shop, he said.
The second part of the Run, Walk and Roll event will also start at the Burbank Road soccer fields.
Families will bike over to Oak Hill Park to find hidden items, including a mug, a giant spoon and running shoes, Battig said.
Once found, participants must take a selfie with the item to prove they found it, he said.
Tickets are $10 per individual or $20 for families of four. Families with more than four people will pay an extra $5 per person.
Check-in and registration are at 9:30 p.m. on June 18 at the soccer fields. The event kicks off at 10 a.m.
